Welcome to the Interstellar Neighbourhood!
Hailing from Meanjin/Magandjin (Brisbane) in so-called Australia, Interstellar Neighbourhood crafts emotionally resonant music that blends upbeat rhythms with melancholic undertones, reflecting the complexities of grief and the journey of self-discovery.
The musical moniker of composer, singer, producer and designer Serena Choo was discovered during a high-school astronomy class. Astronomically speaking, it refers to the cluster of galaxies that includes our own Milky Way. Creatively, it reminds us that we are far more similar than we are different, while reminding us of our cosmic insignificance in an equally comforting and frightening way. Interstellar Neighbourhood’s music aims to harness the art form’s capacity for storytelling, and ability to foster empathy, understanding and community.
Interstellar Neighbourhood released their first single Stranger Every Day in December 2024, and have released multiple collaborative covers in 2025. Their debut EP Growing Pains is coming soon!

I’ve been songwriting for over a decade, across alternative, pop, and choral genres.
I was named the APRA AMCOS ‘Young Songwriter of the Year’ in 2021, after winning the Australian Childrens’ Music Foundation (ACMF) National Songwriting Competition.
I’m always ready to workshop ideas with others - there’s nothing more satisfying than turning an idea into a complete song!
-
I’m a skilled vocal performer, with experience performing live and working in a studio. I always aim to provide an emotive, engaging performance, helped by years of cross-genre experience and a deep knowledge of my instrument.
With my home studio setup, I can provide professional vocals for your tracks - I’m also happy to take care of editing, comping and tuning if you need!
Range: E3-B5

I fell in love with Garageband at 13, and spent the years after learning how to produce music in Logic Pro.
I am now a skilled producer in Logic Pro and Ableton Live, with additional knowledge about recording music remotely, recording in a studio, and recording from home. My personal knowledge is supplemented by my studies; I’m completing a Bachelors Degree majoring in Popular Music and Technology.
I have experience working in both electronic and live-instrument based genres, and love providing feedback and guidance to others creating their own tracks.

Thanks to years of experience, I am a capable mix engineer. Whether you’re trying to create something release-worthy from an iphone recording, or are working with stems recorded in a studio, I’m skilled at creating tracks with depth, clarity and energy.
I have experience mixing everything from vocal-heavy choral compositions to guitar-driven rock, electronic lo-fi and pop - I’d love to work on your track too!
